5 Simple Peppermint Herbal Tea Blends to Try This Winter
These peppermint herbal tea blends soothe the mind and nourish the body during these cold winter months. They’re a perfect beverage alternative in a season full of ultra-processed ingredients and unhealthy amounts of sugar. So grab your favorite mug, relax and sip awhile.

I’m not really sure when my love affair with herbs began. Perhaps as a Starbucks barista many moons ago when I drank tea in a futile attempt not to get hooked on coffee.
Since those days, I’ve always had a warm beverage in hand whether it’s tea or coffee and occasionally hot chocolate in winter. When we moved to our farmhouse and started a garden, I realized I could grow all kinds of herbs for many reasons.
Since then, my passion for herbs has grown as tall as the marshmallow plant itself! On my blog, I hope to instill that same love for herbs in my fellow readers.
These peppermint herbal tea blends are a great place to start your herbal journey. They’re all easy to grow especially the mint or all can be purchased in bulk from reputable companies.
My list here is only a start to the many possible combinations of herbal blends available. These are herbs that I grow in my garden and drink all year long. Be creative when mixing your own blends!
One warm sip of these teas and your senses will revel with delight. You’ll instantly be relaxed and they’re lighter on the palette and gentler on the stomach than coffee. Each herb imposes a healing effect and promotes positivity throughout the body.
Why You’ll Love These Peppermint Herbal Tea Blends
No Unhealthy Ingredients – These peppermint herbal tea blends are just that. Only the beautiful herbs that God provided for our nourishment and nothing else. No need to worry about unpronounceable ingredients, synthetic food dyes or unhealthy amounts of sugar.
They’re safe and healing – Peppermint alone eases all kinds of digestive ailments including nausea, bloating and indigestion. It also provides respiratory relief during cold and flu season and is great for headaches all without the harmful side effects of pharmaceutical products.
Affordable and Unique Gift – Any one or all of these tea blends makes a great birthday or Christmas gift for the tea drinker in your life. They’re a healthy consumable product that won’t leave clutter and they’ll introduce someone to the wonderful world of herbs. If you grow these herbs yourself, the financial input is minimal to none.
To purchase herbs in bulk, I recommend Azure Standard or Mountain Rose Herbs.
Helpful Hints for a Perfect Cup of Tea
- The ratios listed are merely a suggestion. Adjust according to your taste preferences.
- To brew a good cup of tea, ensure the water is boiling or close to it. The hot water better draws out the flavor and benefits of the herbs. Cover the cup while steeping to keep the oils from evaporating before drinking.
- Dried herbs last for years when properly stored, although some do lose a little potency along the way. It’s best to store them in glass containers out of direct sunlight for the best flavor.
- If you grow your own herbs, I find that they retain the freshest flavor and benefits by simply air drying them. Yes, the drawback is that they’ll lay around for a few weeks taking up space, but the end result is worth it. A fresh hot herbal sip on a cold day and you’ll thank yourself for not speeding up the drying process!
5 Simple Peppermint Herbal Tea Blends

I imagine one drinking the following blends as a hot cup of tea, but try them in the summertime as an iced beverage. Steep in a Mason jar out in the sunshine.
Also, herbs are perfectly safe to consume, but as with anything, use with caution especially if you’re pregnant, breastfeeding or on medication. There’s many resources out there from books to blogs and YouTube videos related to herbs, but my latest go-to book is the Beekeeper’s Apothecary by Kaylee Richardson at The Honeystead.
Her book is a comprehensive collection of herbs and their uses, benefits and contraindications. Check it out!
Peppermint-Lavender-Chamomile

While I love all these tea blends, this combination is by far my favorite. With one sip of its amazing flavor, you’ll know why!
It bursts with the perfect balance of floral essences of lavender and chamomile followed by the bright flavor of peppermint. Together they promote many health benefits courtesy of Mother Nature herself.
- Lavender – The scent of this luxurious herb induces a state of relaxation as well as the sight of its muted pastel purple buds. It’s gorgeous to look at and even better in a savory herb seasoning. In a tea blend, lavender improves mental health symptoms, eases physical and emotional stress and provides digestive comfort.
- Chamomile – Chamomile offers many of the same nourishing benefits of lavender and peppermint with a light floral earthy scent and flavor. A quick whiff reminds me of the faint smell of fall apples. Its healing properties are many, but it’s particularly important for digestive ailments and gut health.
Mix this tea blend in a 1:1:1 ratio or adjust it to your taste preference.
Peppermint-Lemon Balm
Lemon balm is another one of my favorite herbs. It grows prolifically (so be careful where you plant it!) and smells heavenly. A warm sip of it in the middle of winter instantly takes your soul to warm summer days.
- Lemon Balm – This is another powerhouse herb full of beneficial qualities for the human body. Its calming effects relieve stress, anxiety and overall nervousness. It also aids many digestive discomforts and its antiviral properties boost the immune system warding off wintertime illnesses.
Did I mention it tastes amazing too?! Lemon balm has a potent flavor so I recommend a 2:1/2 ratio. In one tea bag, combine 2 teaspoons dried mint to 1/2 teaspoon lemon balm.
Peppermint-Raspberry Leaf

Raspberry leaf is exactly as it sounds. It’s the leaf of the red raspberry plants (or black or white raspberries) you pick in summer and fall. If you have raspberries, you have raspberry leaf tea!
For the best flavor, pick the leaves in early spring before the buds form. If you have fall raspberries, you can also pick right after the summer wave of berries is complete.
- Raspberry Leaf – I describe the flavor somewhere between a blend of black and green tea. It’s not an overwhelming taste of either one, but it’s balanced and earthy. If you’re a woman trying to wean off coffee, this is one of the peppermint herbal tea blends I recommend for you. Its rich flavor satisfies my desire for the taste of coffee every morning.
While an occasional cup is okay for men, raspberry leaf is mostly for women’s reproductive health. Its high vitamin and mineral content nourishes the female body enhancing its healing qualities. It relieves PMS symptoms and heavy menstrual bleeding. It also tones and strengthens the uterus for better labor results during childbirth.
Use with caution while pregnant and breastfeeding. Blend in a 1:1ratio of peppermint to raspberry leaf or to your taste preference.
Peppermint-Green Tea
Where do I begin with all the health benefits of green tea?! You definitely can’t go wrong with a cup of this powerful antioxidant, especially with peppermint.
Green tea has a deep depth of flavor and its lower caffeine content makes it a great coffee alternative. One cup of this minty tea blend and you’ll definitely be convinced.
- Green tea – One of its antioxidant components is EGCG, which supports mitochondrial health by combating free radicals and reducing oxidative stress. In other words, this antioxidant makes us healthier at the cellular level, preventing disease and aging.
Green tea’s astringent properties also soothe digestive infections and boost gastrointestinal health by tightening the mucous membranes along the digestive tract. It’s also an antiviral high in Vitamin C, perfect for warding off winter’s illnesses.
Drink this delicious blend in a 1:1 ratio of peppermint to green tea.
Peppermint-Catnip-Fennel

The peppermint really shines in this unusual blend! A hint of fennel pops in once in awhile too, but its benefits are powerful.
- Fennel – Once again, fennel is another herb that provides positive benefits for the GI tract. It aids in proper digestion and relieves the discomfort of gas, bloating and colic. As an antispasmodic, its great for respiratory health during cold and flu season. It tastes great in this tea blend too.
- Catnip – Although associated with cats, catnip is great for us humans too. It’s gentle and works side-by-side with fennel and peppermint for digestive and respiratory health. Catnip also acts as a mild sedative to relieve stress and anxiety and promote relaxation.
Mix in a 1:1:1/2 ratio peppermint, catnip and fennel.

Depending on how strong you want the flavor, steep anywhere from 5-15 minutes covered so that the essential oils don’t completely evaporate.

Bulk herbs can be packed into an individual disposable tea bag or reusable stainless steel vessel then brewed in hot water. I recommend unbleached disposable tea bags from Amazon or a bulk herb retailer.
